Control Manager at the Total Defence Research Institute (FOI)
The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. The research spans several areas, such as underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive substances), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analysis. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.

About the Position
As a control manager, you will be responsible for planning and conducting security protection controls to support the organization in maintaining adequate protection and ensuring that the agency complies with regulations regarding security protection. The task includes both internal and external controls. The work involves developing and maintaining processes and methodologies for conducting control activities.
Within the security protection unit, you will be an asset in both supporting the security protection area and contributing to knowledge transfer by:
- participating in the preparation of internal agency matters, such as referrals.
- contributing to the development of internal governing documents.
- participating in information and training initiatives.
- collaborating internally and externally, for example in working groups.
The work involves travel and contacts with authorities both within Sweden and abroad.
About the Unit
You will be part of the security protection unit, which is part of the Director General's management support.
Do you have the competence profile we need?
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- Documented relevant education at a post-secondary level or other experience that FOI considers equivalent.
- Documented education relevant to control activities.
- Documented experience of working with control or auditing activities, according to standardized frameworks, within government administration.
- A very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, both in Swedish and English.
- A valid driver's license (B).
As a person, you have high integrity and a strong security awareness. You work in a structured manner and take overall responsibility for your tasks. To succeed in the role, you need to have good communication skills. You enjoy collaborating and contribute to a good collaborative climate. You also need to be flexible and able to adapt your way of working to changing conditions and needs. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Meritorious
- Experience leading auditing or control work in government administration.
- Experience working with auditing or control in security-sensitive operations.
- Knowledge of the regulations governing security protection.

The position is a permanent employment that may start with a six-month probationary period.
